Prepare to immerse yourself in the captivating blend of relaxation and rich history that this ancient country has to offer.
How to plan your trip to Egypt? In this carefully curated itinerary, I will guide you through the most remarkable destinations, ensuring that you experience Egypt’s wonders at their fullest.
From the breathtaking beaches of Hurghada to the mystical temples of Luxor and the majestic pyramids of Giza, embark on an unforgettable journey of a lifetime.

Day 1-3: HurghadaBeach Bliss and Underwater Exploration
As you arrive in Hurghada, a coastal paradise nestled along the Red Sea, prepare to unwind and soak up the sun.
Considered the relatively short stay, we opted for The Boutique Hotel, in Hurghada Marina, offering convenience and flexibility for our day trips and excursions.
You can spend your first day exploring Giftun Island, indulging in a snorkelling trip to Orange Bay, where vibrant coral reefs and an array of marine life await your discovery.
On day two, venture to Mahmya Island Beach, a pristine sanctuary offering tranquil shores and azure waters for you to bask in serenity.
On day three, you can relax in one of the many beach clubs and beaches around the cost, such as Old Vic Beach.

Tip: Be aware of taxi and shuttle scams, Uber and Careem work perfectly, they are safe and their rates are unbeatable (also from and to the Hurghada Airport).

Day 4-5: Luxor – Unraveling the Secrets of the Pharaohs
Embark on a bus journey from Hurghada to Luxor, a city brimming with unparalleled historical treasures. The ride is approximately 4 hours, so pack some snacks and water.

Tip: Getting off the bus in Luxor, avoid street taxis at all cost as they are well known for scams. They can be very aggressive, so I would suggest to either organise a transfer with your hotel/stay in advance or, if you have mobile data (Airalo is a great international eSim option), book a ride on Careem (ride-share app powered by Uber).

Karnak Temple

Arrive at your stay in time for a delicious lunch before making your way to Luxor Temple, a majestic edifice that comes alive with golden hues during the sunset hours. Afterward, head to Al Sahaby Lane Restaurant, a rooftop oasis offering delightful Nile and Valley of the Kings views, where you can unwind and savour local delicacies.

On the following day, rise early to beat the crowds and heat as you explore the Valley of the Kings and Valley of the Queens. Don’t miss the Mortuary Temple of Hatshepsut and the iconic tombs of Ramses V and Seti I.

Tip: Opt for a taxi arranged by your hotel to ensure convenient transportation to the Nile West Bank. You can agree in advance on a standard half-day rate to take you to, around and back from the main sightseeing spots of the Nile West Bank. There is no way to improvise a ride there, as the main ride sharing option (Careem) will not accept pick ups there.

Afterward, rejuvenate at Karnak, where Bayt Ward restaurant provides a tranquil terrace very close to the Karnak Temple complex to savour a refreshing mint and lemon juice. Spend the afternoon exploring the vast complex of Karnak Temple, an architectural marvel that stands as a testament to Egypt’s ancient splendour.

Sunset on the Nile @Jolie Ville Resort

As the day draws to a close, retreat to Jolie Ville Resort (our stay in Luxor) on the historical Kings Island, where you can bask in the serenity of the Nile and revel in breathtaking sunset views. Don’t miss the opportunity to take a relaxing felucca ride and let the river carry your worries away.

Day 6-7: Aswan – Tranquility and Abu Simbel Marvels
Journey to Aswan (either by train for less than 5€ per person or by private transfer for closer to 100€ per car), a tranquil base for exploration and a gateway to the mighty Abu Simbel.
As you arrive, wander through the charming village on Elephantine Island, a serene and picturesque location offering respite from the bustling city centre. Interact with the friendly locals and soak up the authentic ambiance.
On your second day, embark on a day trip to Abu Simbel (3 hours each way), a UNESCO World Heritage Site known for its colossal temples. Witness the awe-inspiring beauty of these temples, crafted to honour Pharaoh Ramses II, and let history envelop your senses.

Abu Simbel

Tip: (a) Remember to make prior arrangements for the Abu Simbel tour, as your ID needs to be registered with the authorities at least one day before.
(b) Make sure to stay on Elephantine Island, a pedestrian island only accessible by ferry, and surrounded by the friendliest locals.

Day 8-9: Cairo and Giza – Pyramid Mysteries and Vibrant Streets
Prepare for the grand finale of your Egyptian adventure as you arrive in Cairo (1h and 20min by flight), a vibrant metropolis pulsating with history and culture.

On your first day in Cairo, embark on a full-day exploration of the awe-inspiring Giza Pyramids. Marvel at the majestic structures that have stood the test of time and gazed upon them in wonder. Be sure to visit the Sphinx, standing guard with an enigmatic smile. As you wander through this archaeological wonderland, soak in the mystical aura that surrounds these ancient wonders.

Sphinx View, Giza

For a truly remarkable lunch experience, head to the 9 Pyramids Lounge, where you can savour a delicious meal while gazing at the breathtaking view of the pyramids. Indulge in the flavours of Egypt as you bask in the glory of these incredible monuments.

Tip: (a) Take the entrance to the complex closer to the Sphinx: if you beat the crowds and enter as soon as the ticket office opens, you’ll have a “private view” to the Sphinx.
(b) Buy a ticket to enter only one of the Pyramids (we entered the Great Pyramid), the interior and experience does not differ sensibly across the. different pyramids and the queue to enter can be quite long.

As the afternoon unfolds, you have a choice to make. If you’re seeking relaxation and tranquility, head to one of the picturesque rooftops offering panoramic views of the Sphinx and Pyramids. The Great Pyramid Inn is a great option, where you can unwind, sip on a refreshing drink, and reflect on the magnitude of history before you.

Great (Khufu) Pyramid

Alternatively, if you crave a vibrant atmosphere and a glimpse into local life, make your way to Khan el-Khalili. This bustling bazaar is a sensory delight, filled with colourful streets, aromatic spices, intricate crafts, and the rhythmic sounds of bargaining. Immerse yourself in the vibrant energy of this ancient market, engage in friendly haggling, and explore the hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. If you prefer to delve deeper into the rich history of the region, consider venturing into the Egyptian Museum, home to an impressive collection of ancient artefacts, including the renowned treasures of Tutankhamun.

Day 10: Out of Office disabled
As our incredible journey through Egypt comes to an end, it’s time to bid farewell to this mesmerising land. Today, we make our way to Cairo International Airport, but fear not, for the memories and experiences we’ve gained will forever stay with us.

Before leaving, take a moment to reflect on the enchanting moments you’ve encountered during your time in Egypt. From the serene beaches of Hurghada to the grandeur of Luxor and the historical wonders of Cairo, this country has left an indelible mark on your heart ✨
