Instagram-Worthy Moments: Top Sights in Thailand

Are you looking for a visual Thailand travel guide? ✨
These Instagram highlights will help visualising yourself in journeying through the enchanting beauty and cultural treasures of Thailand. From beach hopping in the Phi Phi Islands to visiting the captivating Chiang Rai temples and experiencing the untouched paradise of Surin Islands, this adventure is filled with unforgettable moments and thrilling experiences.

Beach Hopping in Phi Phi Islands

Discover the pristine shores and crystal-clear waters of the Phi Phi Islands, renowned for their breathtaking beaches.
Here are the top 4 spots to explore:

  1. Maya Bay Beach – aka The Beach: Step foot on the iconic Maya Bay Beach, made famous by the movie “The Beach.” Immerse yourself in the picturesque scenery, surrounded by towering cliffs and turquoise waters. Look out for the cute baby sharks swimming in the shallow waters!
  2. Pi Leh Lagoon: Experience the secluded paradise of Pi Leh Lagoon, a hidden gem nestled amidst towering limestone cliffs, and dive into its emerald-green waters.
  3. Monkey Beach: Visit Monkey Beach, where you can encounter playful monkeys in their natural habitat. Enjoy the golden sands and clear waters as you observe these fascinating creatures in their element (but do make sure not to leave any of your belongings unattended, they are relentless in looking for snacks!)
  4. Bamboo Island: Escape to Bamboo Island, a pristine and serene paradise. Relax on the powdery white sands and take a dip in the warm azure waters.

Travel Tip _ Book a Maya Bay tour that leaves at the earliest possible time from Phi Phi! We left at 6am, with this Viator 6 hours private tour and had Maya Bay Beach and the Pi Leh Lagoon for ourselves. Can’t recommend this one enough! For other early bird tour options, check the Viator site.

Chiang Rai Temple Route

Embark on a spiritual journey through Chiang Rai, where you’ll discover two captivating temples:

  1. Blue Temple (Wat Rong Suea Ten or “Temple of the Dancing Tiger”): Marvel at the resplendent Blue Temple, known for its striking sapphire blue exterior and intricate architectural details. Step inside to witness a mesmerizing display of art and craftsmanship, as the temple’s interior is adorned with a massive white Buddha statue.
  2. White Temple (Wat Rong Khun): Be enchanted by the ethereal beauty of the White Temple, a masterpiece that reflects a fusion of traditional and contemporary art. Admire the gleaming white facade and intricate designs that tell stories of Thai mythology and modern pop culture.

Travel Tip _ If you cannot spend a night in Chiang Rai, we recommend squeezing in a day trip from Chiang Mai. To avoid tourist traps, an unnecessary longer drive and maximise the time to visit the temples, we opted for a tour not inclusive of the Golden Triangle and the Long Neck Village. Well recommended tour options are the Viator’s and the Get Your Guide’s ones.

Surin Islands – Snorkeling Adventure

Embark on a journey to Surin Islands, a hidden gem in the Andaman Sea, very close to the Myanmar marine border, untouched by mass tourism.
Here, you can camp overnight and indulge in the best snorkelling adventure you’ve ever experienced. Dive into the vibrant underwater world, explore colourful coral reefs, and encounter a diverse array of marine species (including sea turtles). Immerse yourself in the serenity of the islands, surrounded by pristine nature and breathtaking scenery.

Travel Tip _ Multiple day trips are available as option from Phuket or from Khao Lak. But we highly recommend an overnight stay on the Surin Islands and waking up with the sound of the ocean on your tent’s doorstep. You can book your overnight stay tour (2 days, 1 night) on the Oh-Hoo provider website here or on Viator here. Vote 10/10!

[Note: this is a snorkelling heavy tour, which is the primary activity of the tour. If snorkelling is not your favorite, you may consider opting for something different).

  1. Monkey Beach sounds so great!
Did you by chance have a durian in Thailand?

    1. Yes, Monkey Beach and Pi Leh Lagoon have been my absolute favorite!
I have tried Durian in Malaysia and it has not been my favorite 😂 so, I skipped it in Thailand. But I have seen it everywhere, so you can easily find it 😄 (just watch out, as it is banned on public transport)

November. Right at the beginning of the high season! We had mostly sunny days and the crowds were not as much as in December, but we caught a couple of afternoons with a few hours of rain in Phuket.

      1. Amazing! We are going in November too so that is very helpful! For your Phi Phi island tour, did you swim/snorkel a lot? Your tour sounds great, but swimming as much as possible is our priority!

Yes, we had a couple of stops to snorkel (you can see nurse sharks) and we could swim for a while in Pi Leh Bay. With the private tour, you have flexibility to customize the plan and request longer swim stops.

A couple of nights would be ideal, so you have at least a full day to explore the island and beach hop to the best Koh Phi Phi spots ☀️
